About
DShield.org was officially launched end of November 2000. Since then, it has grown to be a dominating attack correlation engine with worldwide coverage. While initially run as a volunteer effort, DShield.org has recently received support from the SANS Institute.
If you are interested in collaboration or supporting DShield, please write to dshield@dshield.cirt.vt.edu.
DShield is regularly used by the media to cover current events (Press clippings). Analysis provided by DShield has been used in the early detection of several worms, like "Ramen","Code Red","Leaves","SQL Snake" and more.
Links to our home page are appreciated (please link to http://www.dshield.org). Other URLs may change at no notice. We do provide Artwork for links.
It is the goal of DShield to allow access to its correlated information to the public at no charge to raise awareness and provide accurate and current snapshots of internet attacks.
Policies
Privacy: Please see our privacy policy.Log Removal: Logs are only removed at the request of the submitter. If you find your IP labled as a 'source' in our logs, we will contact the submitter if you wish and ask for more information.
Log Retention: Currently, most reports are based on logs submitted over the last 32 days. Older logs are archived.
Data Access: We like to cooperate with research efforts on a 'best effort' basis. Access to the data is free and requests are fullfilled as time allows. We will not reveal information identifying our submitters. Limited information may be made available if necessary for your research effort and if you are willing to aggree not to disclose such information to the public. All results of research based on DShield data have to be made available to the public at no cost.
